A.R. (Bob) Fairman is a man with a passion for excellence!  From the early days, when he was a young married man just starting a family, he knew he had found his niche.  Taking a job driving a truck for a local furniture store was the beginning; then came a chance opportunity to apprentice with an owner-operator under contract to Global Van Lines out of Anaheim, California.  The over-the-road training and experience was invaluable and he was soon encouraged to venture out on his own.

He had no idea how deeply ingrained his life would become in this broadly diverse industry.  But, by now, he knew that this was his chosen career and he was focused on making his dream of becoming an owner-operator a reality.  Working for some of the major van lines [United, Atlas and Global], he was the proud recipient of numerous awards and commendations from his many satisfied customers.  In between, he even found time to start his own company, Fair Labor Man, supplying much-needed trained and uniformed helpers for drivers requiring assistance with packing and loading services.

While visiting friends in Australia during early 1984, he was given the opportunity of driving the tanker truck shown in the photo gallery below.  In 1980, enjoying a short vacation in Central Mexico, he encountered a driver who allowed him to take the wheel of his tractor-trailer, also shown below. Neither man spoke or understood the other’s language but, when you truly love what you do, these chances to share your passion are priceless!
